H16 pressure plate removal?

Post by mr_x »

Hi,

Want to clean the pressure plate on my H16. Can see there is a locking pin but what happens afterwards please? There are so many warnings on the net about possible damage to the mechanism by incorrect procedures I thought I better as here first :-o Curiously, I couldn't find any youtube tutorials for this - they must be out there somewhere? I may have asked this question previously but I cannot locate the thread if so.

Thanks

Found this at 2:26 https://youtu.be/IKWLJHHy6YA Any do's or dont's please? One video had a guy puffing away at the open pressure plate to 'clear dust' right up into the optics one presumes?

Thanks,

Ric

The locking pin is at the top, you pull the pin up and you can swing the gate backwards. At the bottom where it is hinged it has a little knurled knob you unscrew (might be chrome). Once that is unscrewed you should be able to pull the gate up off its hinge. If it doesn't come out easy you may have to swing it back and forth while pulling up.

Thanks, copied the the vid & got the gate cleaned up, there was a lot of grime around the gate but the pressure plate was almost mirror-clean :)

You're welcome. Does it run smooth while film is in it?

Runs like a dream thanks - if only I could calibrate the lens to the hand-held light meter i'd be in 7th heaven :)
