I can not urge you too strongly to shoot S-8mm or R-8mm or even 16mm of your kids. I can say from experience that you will never regret it later no matter how much it costs.

I remember reading about a guy who showed some super 8 films to some neighborhood kids who had never seen home movie projection...they said "it was the neatest thing".

I hate to be all doom and gloom but film seems to be like the Titanic going down. It is only a matter of time. And the Super 8 that is available is exorbitantly priced. NO reversal available anymore. I think that the film community is holding onto threads while dangling from a hot air balloon. Even if a smaller operation like Ferrania produce film, it will not be cheap. Film is going the way of the Buffalo!

New manufacturing technologies such as 3d printing are emerging....which will make for easier film manufacturing..film will make a comback...a 100 years from now...people will still be making movies on film.

To me the most fun from shooting film is when running the result on a projector in a dark room on a big screen. 8) 8)

Let's get the facts right. Ever heard of Tri-X BW reversal, just to name one of several reversal film stocks still available? It is from that little known film company Kodak. It looks terrific projected. Agfa 200D color reversal may not be for everyone but is capable of beautiful images from reports I have read. If Ferrania gets going, look for interesting and beautiful film stocks for the future. So, there is still color and some nice choices in BW with possible great stocks coming around... Yeah film is going the way of the Buffalo = still around with lots of appreciative admirers keeping the legend alive.

Film was never cheap. But it always has been worth the price.

David, be prepared to pay a pretty penny for the meager table scraps!

I was thinking of maybe a restaurant e.g. the Pride of India curry house in the High St, invite some of the relatives such as the more socially important ones such as 35, S16 and aunt non linear along. I wonder if the retirement home would allow uncle Steenbeck out? Then there would be the older brother/sister, Standard 8, who everybody said was no longer very interesting to talk to but has been steadily doing their own thing while we were all worried if S8 would even be around for her birthday. I'd also invite that noisy and brash cousin, digital, but their chronic ADDH makes it a bit hard to know where to seat them.

Yes. Re-invest in S8 (Logmar) and shoot! It's been a long time. I am seeking a simple Cinemascope set up.

Well with Mad Max 4 coming out soon "to think we don't have too use then as war club's or go out hunting with them / and there still film, that's kind of a rare thing ?
When so many newer formats and fad's have come and gone .; and what there call film for sx70 that fades away .

I for one am very happy to still be able to use them fine cameras from the time of my father who has passed away /
april will be her brithday "}
