They are working on the delivery of the crowd-funding orders which are intended to be delivered around march. Do you want a photo of the people going to work?
Kind regards,
André

Ferrania have a competition on.
Edit some found footage they found and you could win $250 to spend in their store.

Sounds like fun whether you won the prize or not. How often do you get to legally mess with some Italian film history.

They update the news at about once a month, "Dispatches From The LRF"
I got my postcard for contributing to the Kickstarter fund, not in time for Christmas but in early January. I am sure they're working hard to get the machinery in working order and then to run off the first batch of films for the kickstarter people who contributed enough to get some films. It's a huge task, but they are serious about it.
Hopefully film will be on sale by late summer.

I hope film cameras still exist when their film are ready for sell.

To take a big risk and make film in this Age ? I am very happy that there is someone outhere who has courage and the insight into taking that kind of venture on !kontrabass888 wrote:Late summer?Angus wrote:They update the news at about once a month, "Dispatches From The LRF

Re: ferrania store is now open
There's no real risk.
Film has a market - just not as big as it once was. Its now a niche market. But its not a zero market. The response to the Kickstarter campaign proves this market exists. It's one of the good things about Kickstarter: that one can identify a market without too much pain. So long as enterprises, such as Ferrania, keep their goals within what a particular niche market can maintain then there's no reason for such a market to collapse.
Rather than comparing film to what it once was, and using that as some barometer for the future, one should compare it to what it has not yet become - which involves actually creating that future, rather than just looking for it in some arbitrary tea leaves.

Re: ferrania store is now open
Don't underestimate how long the road is to film production for Ferrania. This isn't a turnkey operation they need to move several huge machines into their building, get them going again, finalise the formulae and so on.....it is quite something that they can do this at all. But it's great that several of the people involved in Ferrania in the "good old days" are back overseeing the manufacture of the new film.
I think the people behind Film ferrania are right, that the market for film has settled now. It's smaller and that might mean that a smaller company which can react to shifting needs of consumers will work better than a large behemoth like Kodak. Not belittling Kodak their TMAX products, for example, are excellent. But Ferrania might well be able to cater to enthusiasts better, running off shorter production runs of a specific film format or emulsion.
