Clean gate Single 8?

I will now try single 8. Have a Fujica z 800 with broken light metre.
I will use it with a handheld light meter.
I did re spool a rt200 with some Orwo.
I didn't find any way to clean the gate except to take apart the gate a pressure plate.
How did people do? Did they just go for a dirty gate ore is there a better way?
My is now cleaned but it took me at least an hour so will probably not do that to often.
