New JOBO Super 8 processing drum

CatLABS of JP, distributor of Jobo analog products in the US and based in Boston, MA has confirmed that this new Super 8 processing drum called EXPERT will work on the smallest motorized JOBO processor called CPP3. "CatLABS of JP: "As i wrote above - this Expert drum will fit all CPP/CPA and larger ATL machines. Please note that there were several production runs of the CPP2, and only the two latest models will be able to handle the load of this drum (SN 20001 and higher)"

The drum appears to be "sprocketless" and therefore applicable to single strand Regular/Standard/Double 8mm film. Quite impressive in this day and age. Thanks to Matthew Modget for originally posting this on the Cinematography Super 8 forum and bringing it to my attention.

This is interesting, good news. I wonder if the tank alone could be used for some lo-tech hand processing without using a Jobo machine?

This looks so easy to load more so than the lomo tank . what would this kit set you back ? Thanks for posting ,

This looks so easy to load more so than the lomo tank . what would this kit set you back ? Thanks for posting ,

just checked the price on cpp3 processor this is not a cheap thing to buy , will stay with my lomo tank's and my water jacket tray , just the pain of loadiing ?

Well all home cine processors are easy to load in the light ;)

Good news, as this might open up some more home processing options and maybe a few micro-labs, like Gauge, in other countries.

Hmm,
On the FaceBook page, I asked if this tank might be used on its own, without the Jobo machine and I got a very quick reply; it seems it can.

But even for hand processing (without a Jobo machine) I'm guessing this wont be very affordable...
Current large Jobo Expert drums are over £300 GBP it seems, and this system will rely on a 'specially modified' one.
Plus I imagine the spiral part that goes inside might even cost the same again, who knows yet?

I really applaud the work going into this and do hope it makes it to market, but it'll probably be out of reach for my lofi/hobby personal use.
It's maybe something a group or a club might buy into though.
Worth keeping an eye on.
