Canon 814XL-S

Post by scottedge »

Trying to repair a previously working 814XL-S. Batteries were left in it and they corroded. Need to remove the battery compartment. Anyone had any success at doing this? Do you need to take the entire thing apart to disassemble the battery compartment? I took the side panel off but can't figure out how to get the battery compartment apart.

Thanks for any help trying to get this working for my wedding.

The batteries are in the pistol grip. Remove the rubberized material from the grip and you will see some screws holding the two halves together. This will give you access to the contacts and some of the wiring.

Are you quite sure? The screws cannot go across as that is where the batteries are :)
How many screws are there and they are then along the rim of the outer half?

Can this griprubber be reused? How does one get this off without damaging it?

Thanks

I don't have one in front of me.
I'm just going from memory.
I know there is a screw underneath the RUN LOCK switch label.

There is also a screw where the thumb-rest is.
Others hidden under the rubber grip material.
