Hi I've just got a yashica super 60 e with 5 boxes of kodachrome 40 which expired in 1980, just wanted to know any techniques or tips on how to shoot with it? I have no clue as to how it was previously stored at this moment in time.
Many thanks Paul

Before you go further.....
Kodachrome 40 can no longer be processed to a colour result ANYWHERE in the world.
It can only be processed to B&W NEGATIVE... and it costs a bomb!

Yep I know I found development for £40 a roll. I really wanted some film and was low on cash this month so thought I would give it a go

If your K40's been stored cold you could get fair B&W reversal or good sepia tone. But best bet is indeed negative. If you have a dark bathroom you could process it yourself in a bucket. It produces some pretty funky film... A LOMO tank is of course great if you can get a 15m tank.

K40 movie film can be developed quite well into BW, in fact I have been doing this myself just lately, experimenting with a bunch of K40 super 8 carts I picked up cheaply on the autction site. I use a Lomo tank and normal BW reversal chemistry. The results are so far encouraging, with a distinct sepia tone. The next step I think is to try toning and tinting, for that authentic 1917 look
I should have some results ready for viewing soonish (after summer!)
cheers phil
