Super8 filmstocks

Post by carllooper »

Came across this while looking out for Super8 films on youtube. Quite reasonable transfer results. Its an overview of Super8 filmstocks, by pro8mm. I think it's two years old now but enjoyed watching it on this new years eve. I found it quite relaxing.

Yeah i watched that a few weeks ago. It looks amazing, so rich. Looks like a lot of it was shot max 8 which looked great at wide screen. It has me excited to see how some Vision3 and a good scan will look from the Logmar camera with a max frame.

Yes - very much looking forward to the Logmar camera and what can be done with such.

I very much appreciated the commentary in the youtube video. Instead of the usual (and irritating) show-off approach that digital camera manufacturers often take (as well as many of the camera people who use them!), it was pleasant to watch a more laid back and simpler sense of life that Super8 inspires, captures and sells in it's own peculiar way. The pauses in the commentary were the best. It's as if the narrator, having made some nominal technical comment, became distracted by the image, lost in the poetry of the moment, for which, even if words could be found, could only ever be a distraction. The imagery itself spoke, very clearly, with it's own unique, humble, but entirely defiant power.

I've always loved the Millennium. That machine had a warmth that the Spirit seemed to lack.

Man, everything I see from Pro8mm makes me want to avoid them. The color/contrast is always very strange. In the mean time, I've never had anything but good results using Cine Post.
I may sound stupid, but I hide it well.
