would it be possible for you to share your implementation(s) as open source? I think it could encourage people to use neg->print route on 16mm instead of just scanning. Apparently there is/was DTS for 16mm, but since it is very much proprietary solution both hardware- and softwarewise, it would be really expensive to make prints using it and to own the necessary playback equipment.

Yes - certainly, will share results. I'll be giving a workshop on this in the new year - I think it's currently penciled in for April - but in any case will make results available online.
