Hi i did buy a new lens from ebay it´s called Rodenstock APO-RODAGON D 75mm 1x f/4 and i have to say it´s sharper then my Linos MeVis-C 50mm lens
i did buy this lens to Schneider Componon-S f/2.8 50mm and i did use it in reverse it was very close to the Linos MeVis-C 50mm sharpnes but Linos MeVis-C 50mm was beter but it look´s like Rodenstock APO-RODAGON D 75mm 1x f/4 is the best lens i have now for telecine
I acquired one myself from ebay. And I had the same experience as yourself - the image captures turned out so much sharper than all the other lenses I had been experimenting with. It was Friedemann Wachsmuth that put me onto those lenses. I haven't looked back.
i did find this lenses are maby good to but not sure if there are good to super 8mm capture and they are very expensive
Printing-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8
Leica Focotar-2 4,5/50mm (did read somewhere that corner sharpness was not so good maby it´s good on super 8mm)
Apo-EL-NIKKOR 105mm
well, to be correct these tests should be performed always on the same image, better if it is a test chart, not a S8 frame (that in this example appears to be sligthly out of focus) .Anyway, in my tests ( not so scientifically rigorous to be honest) i have found that the Leitz Macro elmarit 60mm easily outperform especially in color rendition lenses like Scheider Componon S 50mm and 80MM, Edmund macro gauss 75mm, Canon macro MP-E 60mm, Nikon 50mm, all these lenses normal and reversed oriented. I must say that i have done a "little" customization on the Leitz Elmarit : i have totally dismounted this lens to replace the iris with a perfectly circular fixed iris set at about 5.6, gaining a bit of performance. Here a picture from a SMPTE S8 frame ( that seen on an optic microscope appears to be not perfectly on focus, may be that is is not original shoot but a print ) http://www.flickr.com/photos/110086566@ ... /lightbox/
