Has anyone seen this
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/150 ... ecommended
It's a simple camera of course - but one day we'll get a 3D printed Super 8 camera!

Re: 3D Printed Pin Hole Camera on Kickstarter
What is the need or the point of it?
3D printing is expensive. The thing will likely be crappy.
There is plenty choice of all kind of qualities of ready made ready to purchase pinhole cameras.
I noticed there is even a dedicated LOMO camera shop in Antwerp. And likely eslewhere.

Re: 3D Printed Pin Hole Camera on Kickstarter
There doesn't have to be a reason - someone will do it just for the fun of it
like that new S8 camera someone made on cinematography.com ~ mind you if I was going to do it the opportunity to improve on the transport mechanism and stability would be pretty good motivators - and the ability to design and fabricate the components myself would seal the deal.
But it's beyond my technical aptitude or desire  but someone will do it over the next ten years - as long as there's still film stock around to warrant it.
You really only need to make the box/transport/shutter part of it - and just have a c mount lense mount on it. It wouldn't be necessary to try and make lenses as well :o

Scot,
A version for natural history "time lapse" movies would only need a pinhole lens..... what an exciting prospect!!!

Yeah that's a great idea - I could see something like that being made fairly easy/soon - with a bit of modern electronics for an intervalometer -- in fact for that point someone could build a camera for this (or a full blown Super 8 camera) around a Raspbery Pi computer to control the whole thing - now there's a project!
