I'd like to know what the filter thread is on the Som-Berthiot, Pan Cinor 85, 17-85mm zoom [H-16] lens please, the thread that the lens hood screws into?
There are several references to this on the net but they look a bit contradictory to me. I would guesstimate the thread is 63mm?
Have a gel filter slot in my H-16 but I want to experiment with other types of filtering, so any information on threads and filter step ring fixes would be greatly appreciated
Correct me if I'm wrong since I don't have that lens but the Series 8 filters are not threaded, they are designed to drop in between the lens and the lens hood. At least that is the series 6 and 7 filters work on my Pan Cinor lenses.

Thanks - I can't use these drop-in filters for what I want unfortunately, if they have no threads on them.
You're unlikely to find anything on the market of that size that screws directly to the lens.
It's either series 8 or use a matte box.
Used series 8 filters are not that expensive.
I have a few available. If you're interested, contact me by PM.

Gorgeous!
And thanks Jean-Louis.
I need to screw or clip or slip on an attachment to the end of the lens. I prefer a dog-leg zoom because because the TTL arrangement on my H-16 is dire at anything much short of f5.6. Also I have no variable shutter control so lap dissolves are going to present a real challenge, unless anyone has figured out how to address this issue on c.1958 H-16s please?
San Francisco filmmaker and inventor Tullio Pellegrini installed variable shutter mechanisms in the Bolex H-series cameras back in the 1950s, long before Bolex introduced it on their own cameras.

OK, well at least mine has a filter slot, apparently some of the earlier H-16s didn't have that. Will press on.
