BAUER C 107 XL??
Anyone have experience with this camera? I'm new to Super8 film making, and am looking for a good starter camera. Just wondering if there is anything to beware of with this camera..
One thing I noticed is that it only does 9, 18, and 36 fps. No 24 fps. Is this a problem. Are there drawbacks to not having ability to shoot 24 fps? I think I remember reading about some special techniques that require filming at that speed.
And also, is the remote for this camera proprietary, or is there a general one that can be used? Would this be readily available.
Thanks so much for the info..

Hi Undermind,
The Bauer 107XL does have 24 fps filming speed. 24fps is usually the speed preferred by pro users because it transfers to video better and is also the industry standard film speed. Its also the prefered speed when using direct sound because the sound quality is better then at 18fps.
I've never got to use my Bauer 107xl because I got it off ebay and sadly it was a dud. However I say if you can find one or know of one for sale then go for it. They are quite highly regarded cameras and are nicely made. The 107XL also has an interval timer which is a really cool device for making timelapse movies, it also has the ability to do fades.
As for the remote its a standard electronic remote socket using a 1.5mm jack.
Hope that helps.

And even the camera itself shows only single, 9, 18, and 32fps.

Could you double check on that? Everything else about the camera appeals to me.
Thanks for the reply
I do not believe the C 107 XL has 24 FPS.
you may be better off with a Bauer S 207XL or S 209 XL. With more money, get a Bauer A 512. In addition to all the features (including 24FPS, and intervalometer), the A 512 adds time exposure. Bauers are sturdy and very very nice.
Or, for a starter, try the Eumig 860 PMA or Eumig 880 PMA. You can find both at:

Super 8 Camera Section. MAKE SURE you are getting the one with the filter key. There are two offered with manuals, filter keys etc... at 60 and 80 euros. These two cameras have all the goodies including time exposure at a very affordable price.
