Pro8mm in the UK

Post by Super8Nut »

I just caught a tweet from Pro8mm, they said that they have a UK vendor selling Pro8 film.
I have been wanting to try their film but have been put off by buying abroad.
Is this old news? Anyone tried the UK vendor?
Sorry if this has been covered - new to the board

Hi,

Pro8mm's website doesn't list their office in London (founded in 2001) any more. Hence I guess/fear that it has been closed. Maybe you should simply ask Pro8mm via email/telephone?

Hey Jorg, thanks for the reply.

It's not Pro8's UK office as that was shut down a while ago I believe.
There is a super 8 shop selling their film in Europe now - 18frames.co.uk
Just wondering if anyone has tried them. I haven't heard of the shop before.
Their twitter is new so I'm guessing they're probably new too.

Here's a copy of the tweet:

#pro8mm has #super8 vendor in the UK, visit @eighteenframes for UK pricing and monthly shipping to the US! http://bit.ly/ViKhfn

It's official. Pro8mm (California) now has a UK based vendor called 18frames, i.e. http://www.18frames.co.uk/. Here is the official Pro8mm announcement, i.e. http://www.pro8mm.com/blog/pro8mm-annou ... -products/

That is a significant variety of Super 8 stock. We Regular/Double/Normal 8 users are now officially jealous. But hold on a sec. I just read farther details, i.e.

http://www.18frames.co.uk/product/pro8-43
"Please note that film will be sent to Pro8mm starting from the 30th of April. So get your film back before then for it to be processed as soon as possible!"

It appears that they are simply intermediates to reduce shipping costs for potential European customers. They are also coupling processing with stock costs e.g. 27.5 GBP -> approximately $41.8 US.

Additional details, i.e.

http://www.18frames.co.uk/product/pro8-43
"Pro8mm film comes with processing included, so send your film back to us and we'll send it to them for free!

When sending your items for processing please print off your Paypal order receipt and include it with your film as proof of purchase. If you don't have access to a printer then please just include a note with your name, date of your purchase and return address.

Film is sent to Pro8mm once a month, please allow up to 4-6 weeks for your processed film to be returned."

Postage Prices:
Shipping prices below are inclusive of return postage from the lab.
UK: £3.60 for first film & 50p for each additional film.
Rest of World: £6.60 for first film & £2.50 for each additional film.
