Glue/Cement used on Beaulieu 2008/4008 series leatherette?

Post by Mana »

Received a Beaulieu 4008ZM in the mail and during transport some of the pieces of leatherette and the badge that says 4008ZM came off. Also the metal plate inside the film compartment that covers the electronics. Wanted to know the best cement to use. What was used originally? Thanks in advance!

Hi Mana,

I don't know what they used originally, but you can use contact cement to re-attch.

Clean surfaces of all old glue residue. Alcool or Naphta will do fine.
Apply thin layer of contact cement to both sides, wait at least 15 minutes until tacky and press pieces together and hold.

It should never fall off again.

Pliobond is also good as is very good quality double-sided tape. Not the dollar store kind.

Cheers,

Thanks Jean-Louis! I have some contact cement. I just didn't want to use anything too strong, as I know they have too be removed for service! Regards!

If removal is required, just let penetrate a little alcool and the glue will soften enough to be pulled apart.
