Just a heads up that my Super 8 film "Bike Light" will be presented as a 16mm print with "wild" sound at this years 8Fest. It will be showing at 9pm, Sunday, October 10 at the new 8Fest location at the Workman Arts Theatre, 651 Dufferin Street (just north of Dundas) in west-end Toronto.

My traditional film working method involves digital scanning my films at the highest resolution possible. This is technically called oversampling based on the Nyquist–Shannon sampling theorem. This is done in a humble attempt to "reproduce" the color space, spatial resolution, latitude and such of film. I fundamentally believe that we have yet to exhaust the incredible information capabilities of photo-chemical processes. Hence my multiple endeavors in this area.
Because I edited this film extensively in Sony Vegas Pro I had to somehow get my digital file back out to a film print as per the 8Fest requirements. Therefore Niagara Custom Labs conducted a film out using their 16mm Oxberry setup, i.e.
Super 8 film -> .mov file -> Vision 3 50D color internegative -> 16mm KODAK VISION Color Print Film 3383 (I think).
So yea. Super 8 blown up to 16mm. Due to the festival deadlines I have not even been able to preview this 16mm print and will be viewing it for the very first time at the festival with the audience. I am a bit nervous regarding any potential color shifts but I am looking forward to the adventure! Heck, it was K40 stock from 1981 anyway.
Here is the original if you can't make out to the festival, i.e. https://vimeo.com/38891161.

Fantastic Nicholas.
I must make an effort to visit Canada sometime - so much cool stuff going on there. Despite the great liberations the web provides for seeing work, there's nothing quite like "being there".
