I have had some of John Schwind's reg 8mm films, albeit from European suppliers, and I think it is close to the original Kodak spec of 33 feet or around 10 metres.

That was the standard back in the day, as the reg 8mm cameras I have owned had indicators to tell you when the 'leader' was spent and when it was safe to film. That corresponds to an extra 8 feet or so for the tails, 4 feet each end. I think I have a Quarz which indicates it's ready to shoot after 3 feet...either the Soviet film was shorter or they are squeezing an extra couple of feet of image in.

Today there probably is no de facto standard. I am shre Mr. Schwind winds his rolls pretty consistently, other manufacturers and packagers may vary. I've used Fomapan and I think it is 10 metres but I haven't used it for 7 years so cannot be sure.
