pathe ds8 lens

Hi Guys
What kind of lens mount is this on the pathe automatic ds8?

I was hopeing I could just through on the c-mount schnieder 6-70 lens off a beaulieu 5008 ....but the lens mount threads seem way finer than cmount. It has super8 written on the plastic ring that is at the top of the mount.

I tried putting the beaulieu lens on the other c-mount, but it seemed really soft ...when I focused on a distant object.

I also tried a 16mm bolex lens and it was soft to.

Thanks for any help.

It is a C-mount but your pictures shows that one of the lens mounts has the rear part of another lens screwed into it.
Remove that and you will find a C-mount underneath.

As to why everything looks soft, maybe your pellicle is fogged up or some other part of the viewfinder optics needs cleaning.
You should have your camera looked at by a repair professional.

Thanks Jean-louis that was genius :D ....now that that is off....I can fit the 12-120 16mm lens off our r16 and all looks well in the lens departent now...nice and sharp. The 6-70 schnieder is still soft ...I guess it must be set up different for this camera.

Next question...power.

This ebay camera didn't come with a battery....but looking up the handle I can see 5 pins (a,b,d,e,h)....but only 2 pins on the bottom of the camera?. What voltage goes where? :D

If you don't have a battery, the easiest is to run the camera through the 4-pin connector at the rear.
Contrary to common convention, Pin 1 is positive and pin 4 is negative. Input voltage required is 12VDC.
The connectors are called Tuchel and they are still available. They are type "C 091 A" from Amphenol-Tuchel.
You can order them Mouser and other electronic component providers.

As for the connector at the bottom of the handle, I can tell you the pin configuration on the battery pack that fits in there.
Both pin A and B are conneced the negative side of the battery pack and both pins D and E are connected to the positive side of the battery pack.

As for the contacts on the bottom of the camera, the forward one is negative and the rear one is positive.

Hope this helps.

Hi Jean-Louis...thank you very much....will give it a go.

I couldn't find anything on the wiring of this camera, after spending all evening looking for info online.

So its 12v ,what amperage would be good?

The original battery was rated about 600mAh, so that would be your minimum.
Today's NiMH AA batteries easily exceed 2000mAh in capacity.

Well it runs like a dream! :D ...even after I got the polarity mixed up on the first attempt and the cord got hot. :o

It sounds so much more solid than any of the super8 cameras ive used. Especially in single frame mode you can really hear the click with each press of the button.

Oh better get some details on film shutter speeds.

So what are the shutter speeds for

8-18-25-32-48-64-80 and single frame

with full open aperture?

Also when I look in the view finder I see a red led in the top right hand corner ....what is that telling me?

Now I better order some 100d from John Schwind!

What is the flange distance of the camera mount? Is it same as Bolex H8 Rex or H16 rex?
