s8 processing in modified continuous machines

Post by aj »

Any good translations on the title of this Schmalfilm article announcement?

Digital has the future but lacks history/memory/past! ?

The oddity with the machine in the pictures is that it seems to pull in ten films in one go. Is it a modified filmprocessor?
I had the idea to do about the same with a paperprocessor. If timing is adjustable and can fit E6 it could be 30 centimeter per minute but as it can do like 6 films in one pull one would still be good. Beats LOMO if you have a weekly stack of 10-50 pieces :)

It is possible to use a contious film processor designed for slide film to process Super 8. From what I know in continous film processors the film which is normally about one and half metres is attached to a punched card which slowly pulls the film through the machine and then to the top where the film comes out processed and dried. To use longer lengths a spool needs to be fixed where the film comes out, this spool needs to pull the film and a light tight box needs to be attached where the film feeds in.
