Workprinter XP DC Motor Upgrade

Post by AndyNWuk »

I have been using a Workprinter XP for several years now and had some really good results. I have recently replaced the incandescent lamp with an LED backlight and it works great. I want to eventually change over to HD mount the camera on the front of the unit. But firstly I want to change the motor over to a DC type instead of the 110volt AC unit running of a large transformer under the desk.

I am in the UK and yes I could send this unit back to Moviestuff in the USA to be upgraded, but by the time I have paid carriage both ways, import duty in the UK etc. I feel this one modification I can do myself being an engineer in broadcast.

Does anyone know what make and model of DC motor the new Workprinter XP uses in the upgrade? Is it a DC Stepping Motor? I have calculated that the AC motor currently is around 0.67 N-M torque, but if I had some idea as to what the new DC motor is that is working already, I can research suppliers here in the UK for a similar type if not the exact one that would do the trick.

I appreciate I may have to change the mounting and pulley, but that would not be a problem to engineer.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Kind Regards from the UK

I have sent you an email regarding a price for the motor upgrade kit and I am looking forward to the next stage of my machine conversion to HD.

Look forward to hearing from you.
