$300 collectable KODAK 7242 SUPER 8 FILM HIGHSPEED 200ft Mag

Post by aj »

Considering the expected price I suppose this isn't a spoiler.
And there are several.

ebay 230852935987

I wonder if somebody expects to have it processed after using exposing :) It is EM-4

Or is it a showcase item at $300?

Awesome. Brings back memories of the big mag that was all over the site a few years ago. Supermag or something?

When I think of the regular Super 8 cartridge being 3.5 minutes I think that is really long since I've been shooting 1 minute Eyemo loads recently.

Yep, the Supermag. What a happening it was.

The seller of these states that it is very easy to have EM-4 processed.
50ft at $15. Any lab in Hollywood/Burbank does this on a daily basis :)
That is bluff and an attempt to mislead buyers.

These cartridges are only good for collections and display.
Or to fiddle with them and transform them into reloadables.
What is to gain with that? Loooong scenes. Otherwise better swap 50ft in time and save the effort.

The 200ft-cart can also be completely rewound in a Nizo 6056/6080 (and most other cameras that accept the 200ft-carts). So it's much easier to do double-exposures.

Indeed, one time in the past I discussed the 200ft with somebody from Italy who had adapted one to use it with any film. He didn't use 200ft loads but used 50ft from standard cartridges. The main purpose was to have double exposure over long lengths.

One might then just as well swap the pressure plate or fix it with a thing like one from Klose.

Unfortunately this doesn't fix anything related to rewinding. Rewinding the 50ft-carts simply isn't possible for the full length due to their design (coaxial supply and take-up spools). (The 200ft-carts do have two separate spools like Single8-carts, MCs, VHS-tapes, ... .)

sorry?

putting 50ft, taken from a standard cartridge, in a 200ft makes it possible to double expose the full 50ft.

When at it one might aswell modify the plate by replacing it with metal one (for example from a Kaccema) or adding a framemaster from Klose.

Sorry, my mistake. I thought that you wanted to use the GK pressure plate instead of filling the 50ft into the 200ft-cart.
