That may be true. But once you get caught up in the whole WithoutaBox madness that makes it so easy to find "niche" festivals...and believe me there are THOUSANDS out there... it's hard to stop. I also read Chris Gore's book on festival submission. Well written and interesting but in the end it didn't help out. I finally found the "scattershot" method he warned against to get my film in some fests. The local fests and some of the Super-8 fests wanted nothing to do with my film. Which is odd considering it's a "Los Angeles-specific" film and was shot on S8!woods01 wrote:Its an accomplishment to get 9 screenings of an independent film but submitting to 90 festivals seems like self abuse! There is only a handful of major festivals that can break film so apart from the local festivals you can attend (and exploit the filmmaker pass) and the odd super 8 niche festival, I feel that most small festivals aren't worth the time and money to submit.
Whatever. Can't dwell. Have to just learn from the experience and move on...now if only I had 3k to make my synch-sound digital epic...
