duplicating standard 8 film prints.

Does anyone know of a person or company that provides a duplication service for 8mm film? One thought is to scan the 8mm print than using the digital copy, print onto a 16mm film stock. But I do not know if there is a way to copy/print digital to film.

AlphaCine in Seattle does digital to film prints but I doubt they will do it for 8mm. You could contact them to find out, they may point you in the right direction if they won't do it. I contacted them about telecine for 8mm and they directed me to someone else. Most of what they do is with 16mm and 35mm, for 8mm and super 8 they just do processing.

Regarding this topic, one curious thing is that Kodak have 3383 colour print stock perforated .1500 for standard 8 in their catalogue. That is wierd, given their reluctance to keep things in their catalogue.
Unfortunately the modern style of digital to film printers have never been made for 16mm, only 35. Digital to 16mm has to be done in the old 'kine' way.

There's a company in Maryland that will do film outs fairly reasonably. You'll get a 16mm or 35mm negative and one print. $110/minute for 16mm, $150/minute for 16mm with sound.

These guys also do very good Spirit transfers of 16 ($.22/foot) and 35 ($.09/foot) basically the best prices I have ever seen for such transfers.

Their processing is very reasonable too.
