Hi all,
I'm on the look out for a nice standard 8 tape splicer for my R8 service which should all be in place by the first of August. Can anyone recommend and good tape splicers?
Also I wondered where I can get some S8 to R8 spool connectors? After about 50.
Thanks in advance for any advice given.

Re: Standard 8 Splicer
Hi Kein,
I use a roll-tape splicer made by CIR but badged Farena or something. These are handy, but not really necessary for the volume of Standard 8 film you might get. Just use a Kodak universal tab splicer. These splices are dirt cheap and very effective. The splicing tabs (available from Urbanski) are also very inexpensive. CAn also use the splicer for super 8 and 16mm.
Wittner sell the spool adapters. But many customers will be using duel guage projectors that can take super 8 spools. I suggest buying a handful of R8 spools (from Wittner perhaps) and then asking your customers to request if they specifically need an R8 spool, otherwise use the commonly available S8 spool. Personally, I just use the S8 ones but have a few R8 if needed.
cheers,
richard
