The chamois/foam eyecushions just slip over the existing rubber eyecup. They're quite comfortable, but even the smallest of them is a rather loose fit on any of the Beaulieu eyecups on which I've tried them.

Whether a MB is necessary or not is purely up to ones needs. Since I want to use a polariser, nd grades and other filters, a MB is the way to go.

Regarding the eye cushion, you can use a newer eyerubber and adapterring:

You can use a polarizer as a screw on...

You just can't pull focus behind it. Since the DOF on S8 is so deep anyway when do you need to pull focus??

Having a possibility to use shorter depth of field (zoom) is adequate for me to knew I will pull focus in a documentary project or so.

Secondly, since the Angenieux lens, 6-80 version, on the Beaulieu has a focus part of the lens which rotate when pulling focus, makes an polariser screw on unusable if just changing focus. Since I had al the knowledge to make the choice of invest in a MB I will sugest that you trust me that it will be necessary.

I see your cam and it´s wonderfull. So, I need to make mine better because I started to make short movies, but I need to learn a lot about filters accesories, etc. I´ll glad if you can tell me the Cavision rod support and Arri matte box model. I´ll try to get it on the web.

I did review the eyecushion spec chart. Unfortunately, even the extra small round eyecushion is much too large to fit a Beaulieu eyecup. It would need to be about half the size.

Could you post up the diameter (if it's a circular eyecup) or the length/width (if it's an oval eyecup)? It'll be best if you can post up a picture too. I'll speak to the Bluestar Products owner Helmut and get his advice.

Rubber eyecups for Beaulieu 4008 series cameras were made in a variety of styles. The earliest and most common of these is a circular design with an outer diameter of 1½ inches and an inner diameter of roughly ⅝ inch.
