About a year ago I bought a 4008 on eBay with out a lense - the other day I bought a Schneider 6-66 lense, with macro focusing, but when screwing it on I found it doesn't go all the way on properly.
It probably needs to rotate about another 30 degrees so that the motors line up where they are meant to on the front of the body. Does anyone know any easy way to fix this. The thread on the lense needs to be just that little bit longer I guess. I tired taking the four screws out at the bast of the lense (that hold the mounting bracket and the motors on) - but I couldn't make any adjustments that work.
So what I've done for the moment is undo the lense almost a full turn so it sits in properly , but it's a bit loose --> thought I do recall we shot In My Image with a wobbly lense for much of it and that didn't effect the sharpness!

Re: Beaulieu 4008 lense rotation?
Maybe the pods for the zoom and auto exp. need to be realigned?
Re: Beaulieu 4008 lense rotation?
When looking straight down on the camera with the 6-66mm lens lens mounted, the index marks for the various scales should point straight up towards you. When viewed from the front, the two power zoom control buttons should also point straight up. If this is not the case, you have some adjustments to do.
First remove the servo motors module from the lens by loosening the four screws. You will have to slide the macro control lever over slightly to uncover one of the screws. Reinstall the lens on the camera. If the index marks are not perfectly straight up, estimate by how much they are off and in which direction. Remove the lens from the camera. You should see six setscrews on the rear lens mount part. Locate the three setscrews that are closest to the rear of the lens and loosen them slightly. Do not touch the other three as this affect the back-focus setting of the lens. You can now rotate the C-mount threaded part in the opposite direction of movement to realign the index marks. Tighten screws (not too tight) and check the alignment on the camera body again. You may have to repeat this a few times until you get it perfectly aligned.
Now reinstall the servo motor assembly. Make sure the macro control lever and the macro ring tab are properly coupled. Tighten the four screws but not all the way. Make sure the both the index marks and the zoom buttons are pointing straight up. Gently tighten the screws one by one to avoid skewing the servo modules to one side, then go around again and tighten more strongly.
Reinstall the lens on the camera and check again for alignment. Test to make sure the power zoom and servo-diaphragm features work properly. That's it.
Cheers,
Jean-Louis
