Great Ektachrome Super 8 Video

Post by Will2 »

Well shot and amazingly colored Super 8 Ektachrome... Eric Rosen at Lightpress did the color/transfer... hope he won't mind me sharing...

Great to see what is possible with that stock.

Wow that's great - inspiring stuff.

The evening shots are nice and have got we wanting to try something similar as i've only ever used 100D in quite strong daylight.

Any ideas what camera was used and how many carts they actually shot?

Yeah that looks really nice - it works really well -- it looks like part of a 1970's commercial in some parts!

Maybe I belong to a different age, I could of really enjoyed this commercial if they could of held a few shots for more than 2 seconds. Of course, it does an nuance that could only be captured with super 8.

I think beautiful people always help too.

But it is fun to see a real DP shoot and edit Super 8...makes me want to up my game.

Very disturbing video. Smoking is the leading cause of illness and premature death, leaning out of the window of a speeding car can lead to some very serious injuries, leaving a camp fire burning unattended will cause wild land fires that can destroy property and cost millions of dollars to control. And, hey guys, if you are going skinny dipping, lets take it all off. ---J.S.

can't really understand your statement, it is hardly anything in it which seems professional to me - not even a sync piece - if that was an intention.

this is how to do...
wave your cam around when shooting, process your reversal film, cut it 1 + 2 foot pieces at random actions...., throw them all in the air, pick them up randomly and tape them all back together in that order and it could even do better than this piece...
even bakwards, upside down - doesn't matter for transfer....
my twinola du-knots....

Americans don't swim naked. That sort of behaviour turns people into communists and makes a mockery of freedom.

My point was that after all that risky and antisocial behavior they go swimming in their underwear. Must be some biblebelt redneck thing.--J.S.

It takes a pro to make you think it wasn't. :D

Granted it wasn't a drama narrative edit. As a collage of moments I thought it was very well done. I've sat through a lot of Super 8 shorts that weren't edited half as well as this one.

Nakedness would of course helped.

I really like the look. I've seen some video lately trying to emulate that look and it just comes out looking transparent and really fake. Love to see the real thing!
