Outdated film stock
Any of you chappies work with dated film? I'm just about to explore the possibilities of 8mm and Super 8. With 8mm there are lots of deals on eBay for stuff like Kodachrome II, Kodachrome 25, Technicolor (!), etc. Will labs process dated film? Some of this stuff goes back to the 50s. Or can one DIY with available chemicals?

Don't waste your money. The packaging or boxes that the film makes for a good display items or memorabilia but the film is worthless. Even if you could find someone to process the film there would be age fog that would make the film unable to capture an image. If you like the package for display buy the old film. I want to shoot movies buy fresh film. --John S.

Re: Outdated film stock
Yeh, I've already done some research. I had thought to buy a lot of Kodachrome 25 from eBay only to discover that the stuff can't be processed anywhere.
I'm trying out several cameras right now, 3 Super 8 and one regular 8mm. I'm wanting to explore all the possibilities here, particularly to do with texture, grain, resolution, etc., for the purposes to converting via home telecine to HD in order to edit on iMovie. I have plenty of film for Super 8, including 3 Foma b/w DS8 rolls. Also, I'm putting in an order with you.
