After the arguement
An imporvised super 8 film - shot on 2 rolls of 100D with an Elmo 1012s-xl that was dying. I got the actress free for 1 hour - so that is the amount of time I had to shoot it. Let me know what you think please.

Re: After the arguement
Excellent acting and well-edited. I'm wondering what you said to her to make her so upset :?
For a dying camera, the picture strikes me as still very good.
Charlie
PS. On a slightly pedantic note: is the typo in 'arguement' deliberate?

Nice shots and editing. Some of the cars in the background took me out of "the zone" a little. The film conveyed emotion well.

Nice--really got into it. She's beautiful and you did an excellent job of capturing the emotional performance on her face, but I have to say that initial shot of her stumbling into the woods with her helmet still on is brilliant. Liked very much.

Thanks Charlie, actually I can't remember the exact direction I gave her, but I was building her up to it during the 10 minute walk to the location. She spent some time winding herself up a bit and then I was ready to shoot!Charlie Blackfield wrote:Excellent acting and well-edited. I'm wondering what you said to her to make her so upset :?

Well, I did not know it was dying of course, I shot several test rolls prior to the shoot and everything was perfect - it is just when I was at the location that it started to flutter a little - and the ee lock button wasn't working - so you can see wild variations in the exposures. I could have adjusted manually of course, but I did not have the time.
You're quite right - I have changed that now. Living in a foreign country and speaking their langauge everyday, cracks start to appear in the mother language. Small cracks mind, like spelling and temporary loss of some vocabulary!Charlie Blackfield wrote:Charlie

Re: After the arguement
Thanks! I undserstand that - I was not too pleased that there were cars - but I reasoned that since she is a pillion rider and the argument was with her boyfriend who was the driver, they had argued and he sped off leaving her at the roadside. She went off into the wood by the roadside.Will2 wrote:Nice shots and editing. Some of the cars in the background took me out of "the zone" a little. The film conveyed emotion well.
I could have gone deeper into the woods to avoid the road, but I needed the light - I was already pretty well wide open at f1,2 for some of the shots.
Thanks for watching and giving me some feedback! Always appreciated!

Thanks Tim! Harleen, the actress is half Swedish half Indian!etimh wrote:Nice--really got into it. What I was trying to do was show the fall out of an argument with the initial explosive response and gradual cooling down. I liked the idea of a couple on a motorbike as you are so intimate . there is nowhere to go if you have a falling out.
Thanks for watching, and the feedback is much appreciated!

Re: After the arguement
I forgot to mention that I edited the physical film by hand and screened it live from a super 8 projector and the music was played live by a musician.Charlie Blackfield wrote:Excellent acting and well-edited.
I smoothed over the manual edits in FCP - took out the join frames ....

Big extra points for that. But don't edit out those manual edits too much, wear them like a badge! (except when too distracting...)Andersens Tears wrote:I forgot to mention that I edited the physical film by hand and screened it live from a super 8 projector and the music was played live by a musician.

Too bad you couldn't record the music live to the Super 8 projector like in the semi-old days.
