could it be possible to use canada balsam as a film cement ?

You could experiment with it but you wouldn't know what the long term effects on the film would be. You can get fresh cement from http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/2 ... ent_1.html or in smaller quantities at Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Kodak-Film-Cement/dp/B002JFCF20 or on Ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-KODAK-FILM- ... 51915afd39. Just make sure your buying new stock and not old yellow stuff that has gone bad.

If you are from outside the US then shipping may be a problem from these sources. There is also a recipe online to make your own from acetone and film: http://www.film-center.com/splicing.html. This has been discussed on this forum before: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=19915.
