stability of Super 8 Film

Post by MattWalters »

Hi there, I have some Ektachrome reversal Kodak which I believe I bought 2 summers ago.. has been non refrigerated this whole time, its a Super 8 size. just sitting at room temperature. Is this film going to be useable still ? I think its mostly colour films that lose colour right ? should I overexpose or anything ?

I think its 2 summers.. could be 3, 3 years, but no more than that

EDIT: pardon me its actually TriX reversal B&W sorry for the mistake 7226, is this 200 ISO ? I think it might be

Maybe not for a professional shoot, but it's fine for hobbyist use. Black and white film takes a while to go bad.

I am trying to shoot something semi-pro though, that is to say that its not a big budget production or anything, but I still would rather it turns out looking right than not

do you think I will be expecting some problems - should I overexpose, etc, is there anything I can do to mitigate the effects of the age on the film ?

I don't think you should under rate the film. However if the project is important, use fresh stock and save this stock for something else. Or at the very least, test one of the rolls.
But if you don't want to do either of that, then rate the film normally and take your chances. Will probably be fine.
