Paclab for 100D ektachrome.. Results

Post by robbie »

Im guessing this may have been brought up before, but I couldn't find anything in my search. So, just got two rolls back from paclab, and as usual the trix looks great, but I have issues with the ektachrome. It's 100 ft of regular8 100D and the problem is it lacks blacks. The shadow / areas where black should exist I have a reddish black. Unlike the results I've had with 64t processed at Dwayne's, which was right on dense blacks close to or almost to a deep Kodachrome black. Therefore, this the first time I've used paclab for this newer ektachrome. My exposures are either perfect or close to it under the daylight. All colors are as they should be, nicely saturated, but misses in the black area. I've been shooting ektachrome, in e6 and the discontinued 7240 and 7250 as well the 160 for many years, but have never had these results. So, if this makes sense, could it be the processing? Or is it perhaps how this daylight film functions? Appreciate Any thoughts?

The 100d should have nice blacks. But you need to tell us whether it was fresh stock or if it sat around in a hot car or anything like that.

This was fresh from John schwind. Good stock. I've been shooting film for over ten years and always take care of the emulsion's environment. I do understand your thought, Because I've only seen this reddish hue in the black/shadows is with outdated ektachrome 160. But this was fresh.
