Tri-X Advice

Post by Will2 »

I'm shooting some Super 8 and 16mm Tri-X tomorrow, outside at a mammoth bone dig site in Waco, Texas. Conditions could be cloudy or sunny, not sure at this point.

I shot some a few years ago on an overcast day and it came out really flat, almost too low contrast. I know I can fix that in transfer but I'd like to get it as close as possible on film.

Any recommendations? Should a try a red filter if cloudy to create more contrast?

I'll be shooting with a Beaulieu 4008 Jubilee and Canon Af310XL (I know, polar opposite cameras) and a Scoopic Ultra-16 modified.

you could try using the internal filter i mean the conversion filter in the canon i not sure if the conversion filter is internal with beaulieu the filter could be used to increase contrast in b&w

Tri-X with the Canon AF310XL has quite good contrast - this is mixed cloud and sunshine -
