A lens made for a 1/2" sensor (6.40mm x 4.80mm) should work fine on the Beaulieu super-8 frame (5.69 mm x 4.22 mm).

Cheers,

Hi,

the major problem is that some of these lenses for 1/2"-sensors are "SD only". Hence there's a chance that the Super8-image will suffer from a poor-quality-lens. E.g. let's compare these two 12mm-lenses from Kowa (both C-mount and for a 2/3"-sensor): Jörg

I've used a similar 6mm Pentax video lens on my Beaulieu 4008 with no problem. Kind of fun as it makes it much smaller and easier to shoot with. Hadn't noticed a major resolution issue nor is it particularly soft.

Just watch out for what I think they call a "CS" mount. The back element on some of those sticks out a little and makes it incompatible with the 4008. Nothing can stick out past the screw mount for it to seat properly.

Keep in mind that it may need to be columnated to your 4008 for accurate focus although it will probably be passable out of the box.
