Wittner Fuji 64T in Super 8 carts - Just ordered!
Just ordered a batch of these. Anyone shot with this film yet?
My German isn't that great but is seems from the text that the film has some latitude and is best exposed at least as 40asa but also good exposed as 100 asa.
I am guessing that the carts are notched for 64t....
Will have to wait and see when they arrive!

The text says that you might underexpose the film at a camera setting of 100 ASA and that experience with 16 mm film and projectors, which naturally have a strong lamp, showed that the higher density gives better results.
Further on it says that you should NOT overexpose, for example by the automatic setting of 40 ASA in some cameras.
Good luck with the film!

Alex! Thanks for the clarification! I think I will expose it at 64 as I will be projecting using a super 8 (Bauer T610).71er wrote: Further on it says that you should NOT overexpose, for example by the automatic setting of 40 ASA in some cameras.

I will post my results once I have shot a test roll!

I have used this F64T film in tne past when Wittner was selling it as "meterware". I used to load reloadable carts.
It was far cheaper that the current cartriddge which price is definitly abusive.
The results were great, and sharper then the 50D.But ,IMO, this stock must only be used for artificial lighting,
because even with 85B filter,it looks to blue in natural light.
Will you post tour results on Vimeo?

I have to disagree the films looks lovely in natural light - not blue at all. I shot with a Canon 814XL-S and Nizo 6056 with the internal colour conversion filters disengaged and a B+W KR-12 colour conversion filter screwed on the lens. Beautiful pictures and beautiful colours.cinelys wrote: The results were great, and sharper then the 50D.But ,IMO, this stock must only be used for artificial lighting,

I agree with you though, that the price is rather high!
The short film I made with this stock was a commission which has not yet had a premiere. I will make an extract available on vimeo when it has been screened.cinelys wrote: Will you post tour results on Vimeo?

I have the Nizo 6056. But I know next to nothing about Canon Super8 cameras. I have been thinking about getting the Canon 814XL-S.
Do you have a preference between these two cameras? I like the Nizo images with wide open aperture. Does this Canon keep a sharp image with the widest aperture? In general, which one is sharpest in your opinion? Do you recommend one over the other for what you do? Also, my Nizo 6056 is very quiet - how does your Canon compare noise wise?
I'd love to see a sample of your footage shot with both.

Looking at the results from the film project that I shot with the 2 cameras, I much prefer the image from the Canon - the colours are nicer and perhaps the image is a little sharper - but not much. I prefered shooting with the Canon too, it was much more easier to use the controls get the images I wanted.Lunar07 wrote:I have the Nizo 6056. But I know next to nothing about Canon Super8 cameras. The Canon does go a bit soft at full aperture but no worse than any nizo at full aperture.Lunar07 wrote: I like the Nizo images with wide open aperture. Does this Canon keep a sharp image with the widest aperture? In general, which one is sharpest in your opinion?
In my opinion based on experience the Canon will win out hands down every time - it is also more robust than the Nizo and less likely to let you down.Lunar07 wrote:Do you recommend one over the other for what you do?
This is where the Canon looses out to the Nizo - those Nizos are the quietest super 8 cameras ever. The Canon is noisey but not the worst offender out there!Lunar07 wrote: Also, my Nizo 6056 is very quiet - how does your Canon compare noise wise?
Sure I'll post some in March after I have screened the work publicly.Lunar07 wrote: I'd love to see a sample of your footage shot with both.

I shot a demo roll from Spectra about 5 yrs ago. It was better than the kodak 64T at the time. Better colors, finer grain... but not as nice as the Velvia 50D.
