y the more i look into it. ill give a few examples but there is no definite answer and youtube aint no truth for sure but look for yourself and compare. i even think the in camera sound recordings of airplane shots i have made stands out compared to new hdv/dv digicams although a few of my samples is hampered by dirt on the capstan a factor i was not fully aware of at the time.

Mustang P51D 1986, poor weather, hand held microphone snapped under my wrist for some reason thus camera noise.
Look at the "texture" on the close ups shots, it is not there at all on the HDV shots, on y screen/s... and to me my good stuff sounds beefier and better:
