Trouble with Nizo 801 Super 8 Camera

Post by kkoolkid »

As stated in the title i am new owner of a Nizo 801 Super 8 camera. The camera is in perfect condition and runs great, however when testing the camera out, (there was no film in it) i pressed the "R" Button on to top of the camera which automatically fades out the shutter for a cross dissolve in camera. I did not know this and know I am not able to get the camer to run again. The power is working but when ever I hit the shuttler release nothing happens. In the instructions it states, "to begin filming again wind the film back up by the amount used for the fade and halt the drive motor, when you are ready to start filming again push the "R" and shutter." So you would think this would work, but nothing happens. I now have super 8 film ready to shoot but cannot operate camera.
Could it be that i tried to dissolve with no film in the camera?
Or how do I "Halt the drive motor", would it matter since i wan't shooting film anyway?
Can I override the camera some how so I can shoot again?
Please if any one has any ideas respond!

Thanks

This may have no bearing on the problem.... but these cameras are notorious for having intermittent triggers! You could simply have a coincidental problem of this kind. It may be nothing to do with your use of the R button, just the trigger.

Use the Forum search for NIZO trigger problems.

Hi there,

you have tried pushing the Trigger and the R-Button at the same Time, right? Furthermore, there is a friction clutch operating the disolve Mechanism. As I understand it, the friction can be less than the needed amount. My NIZO Professional had the Same issue when it came back from Maintenance. I did send it back to Service where they just adjusted this friction clutch as i remember it.

Best regards,
Jan
