Converting A keystone double perf into a single

Post by retrogrouch »

Hi everybody,

Does anybody know ho inter-changable the parts are between the keystone A-12 and the A-9? Can one be used for parts for the other? Is changing one from double perf to single as easy as changing the sprocket?

Thanks

I assume if it has just one pull down claw then maybe just changing the sprocket is all that has to be done. This is a BIG assumption on my part though. :)

I checked, I ve got both these cameras. It only has single pull down claw. (I put some paper where the claw is and it only made a mark on one side) To change the sprocket wheel there is a screw on the side of it (flathead).I think its that easy. Hope it makes sense

Thanks Guys. I have been looking at pictures and manuals online, as well as the a 12 that I have here. It looks like the A models are basically the same casing and guts, with more bells and whistles stuck on as you move up the model numbers. Gahoona, have you seen a lubrication guide anywere? I have had a quick poke around my A-12, and It looks quite basic, but it never hurts to get advise.

Thanks,

The manual says get the factory to lubricate it. So for me, I just oiled what looks like it needs oil, If you lift the film sprocket guides there are holes with moving parts underneath. Makes it run smoother and quieter definitely along with few other moving parts like the spinning claw wheel . Not much oil just a wipe.

I've added a pic of the sprocket from my A9 if that helps you at all.

Cool replies again guys!

The lubrication plan is about what I was going to do- a mirco drop for the bushings in the film compartment, and the same in the mechanical compartment on the other side, with maybe a hint on the shutter gear, and the gear that is exposed in the mechanical compartment.

The picture of the A-9 sprocket was very helpful. I am begining to suspect that there was a year that all the A serries cameras switched to single perf.

Thanks again
