The Bolex K2 what a great camera!

Post by Shanec8mm »

So after searching for the right deal I finally was able to purchase a Bolex K2. I've been using a P4 for several months now and have gotten great results. I can't wait to shoot a test roll with the K2. The camera I won on Ebay came in great condition. I did the usual tear-down to lubricate the internals, etc. I also reconditioned the leather and got the light meter to work. The camera looks fantastic all shined up. The only thing it's lacking is the Kern-style sun shade. Anyone have an idea what size I would need (thread diameter) and where I could locate one? Thanks.

The diameter of the thread is 44 mm.
Have fun with this wonderful camera!

I ordered a Tiffen Series 6 lens shade and it fit perfectly.

What did you use on the leather?

For the leather I used ArmorAll leather cleaner. I polished the trim with Noxon metal polish. The plastic handle was pretty dull looking so I used a Silicone gun rag to make it shine. I've used those Silicone gun rags for yrs and they work well. I also use them to clean and lubricate my films.
