carena zoomex II battery

Post by natxo »

I have received a carena zoomex II and don´t know exactly what kind of battery uses the light meter... I thought it would be a PX625 type, but it is at least two times larger, although in the instruction book -unfortunately for me in german- it appears to say it´s a mallory MR 1,35 volt. Does anyone know a operating replacement for this battery?

thanks!

Could it be a PX14? These are essentially 2 PX625s stacked up, bound together in a cardboard sleeve, with a little metal spacer at the top, 2.7v. Commonly found in many Chinon Super 8 cameras, as well as other makes.

The battery is PX1 (or Mallory MR50). This is a 1.35V battery that is twice the size of PX625. An equivalent is the MR50 adapter with a 1.5V 386 silver oxide battery.

Note that I made a mistake. Battery is PX1 or MR50. I corrected my post.
It is at:
http://www.criscam.com

You'll see the MR9, but not the MR50. Call them to inquire. They have it, but not on the web site. Make sure to get the MR50. Use it with the 1.5V silver oxide battery # 386.
OR get the 1.5V equivalent of the PX1 (radio shack Catalog #: 23-9011). In this case the camera will underexpose by up to 1/2 of a stop.

This is the same battery used by the Canon Canonette R8, Canon 512 Zoom Reflex R8 and the Minoltta electric R8 cameras.
I have the Carena Zoomex (I use the MR50 adapter from criscam with it) - a beautiful and excellent camera.

I which direction should the battery be inserted?
Should the + be at the bottom or on the top?

Talk about a late reply :) I never noticed your question and just saw it now while searching for something on Carena. I have not used the Zoomex in a while. I'll check on it and let you know.
