c mount lenses from 16mm cameras on Super 8 cameras

Post by Scotness »

Just want to check -- but I'm pretty sure the answer is yes -- anyway I just bought this 4008 ZMII off eBay

Image

- as you can see it has no lenses - the seller told me it was thrown out by an angry lover! -- anyway it should work with the c mounts off my R16 shouldn't it -- the back focus and the weight are the only concerns I guess -- but I think the back focus is the same -- can anyone confirm?

I've got a wide range of c mount primes so won't be stuck with the huge 10-120 on it!

Thanks

Scot

They will fit and most likely work, but for perfect result you should have your camera/lenses colliminated (if that's the right word). (means they need to be adjusted slightly).

Email bjorn.andersson@brevet.nu for details.

Well, it has no eyecyp and no battery either :) But it has the contact-block so connecting a external battery shouldn't be a problem.

The lenses from your 16mm camera fit and should have their focus on the filmplane too. Use the groundglass to check thier focus. The groundglass frequently gets dusty on cameras which were left without a cover too long. But then it is still usable for focussing. If you have your lenses adjusted for infinity (collimated) they will no longer be OK on your other cameras.
Kind regards,

André

Hi Andreas and AJ thanks for the advice -- the funny thing about that battery mount there is that I'm 99.99% sure that's the work of Milan Smetak of Beaulieu Cinema Services here in Australia - he did the same for my 4008 that I used on In My Image (I subsequently sold the camera) - but it's the same specs as an R16 and I have a battery for my R16 that Milan built so I'm hoping it's all going to work!

Will check the focus when I get the camera (picking it up in a few weeks)
