Re: Question

I must admit that the section of film that really should be blank has a strange fascination with me, but it also had for me a magical moment.
many years ago in the mid 70s I had a pacemaker auto 8 std 8 camera and of course half way through I had to flip the reel. Now somehow and I cant remember how it happened I rested the camera on my lap and flipped the reel but I inadvertently filmed my father sat outside during the summer on a deck chair reading the paper. Now you might find that a bit boring but my dad would never let me film him so I thought I would never get any moving image of him but alas I did without him knowing. I would never have had the nerve to even point the camera toward him in secret I respected him so much but at least I have about 20 seconds of him still alive on film.

Beautiful and amazing story, really. I have some of these moments captured on 8mm film as well, but none as sublime as this accidental magic. Thanks for sharing.

A slight off topic, just in case you haven't heard, there is also a camera that can turn into projector.

You can youtube that to see this strange item

That's funny, I have it but I was just loading it up to take to goodwill. It's the Cine-Twin by Witttnauer. The camera sits on a base when you are going to use it as a projector. I picked it up at an estate sale recently but quickly discovered that its neither a good camera or projector. This one needs a lot of work and it's just not worth the effort. maybe someone will find it and invest some time in it. I kept the D-mount lenses and a D-mount light meter that looks like a lens.

I just bought one of these but I can't find anywhere that sells secondhand magazines/cassettes for it. I just need to get one and then just keep reloading it with new film. Do you know where I might be able to buy one? Sorry to bother you but I was so disappointed when it came without one!

I just purchased a Sears Ted Williams Varizoom reg. 8 camera along with a working Sears super 8 sound projector from a friend. I don't know why the two pieces were together.....

The camera came with 2 reloadable carts. There was some old film with it, so I ran it through and when the footage showed "finish" just after the 25 ft. mark the camera stopped. Took out the cartridge, and it had stopped right on the numbers punched in the end of the roll.

The zoom sounds like a pepper grinder. I'll have to get some film and try it.
