I'll check it out when it lands but there are several 8mm/Super 8 apps already. This is the first "camera" specific one though.

I see your point but I think it shows just how lifeless and sterile video can be that there is a market for roughed up footage.

The image is of a handful random designed looking parts which are supposed to form a camera? What the software is going to do is unclear.

They better mind the legal implications of adopting NIZO. It is still properpty of Braun and the design is still protected.

In general it seems software designers think they are free to use other people's products looks and functionalities. See how they would like others taking away their design. A bit how Apple designs are based on Xerox products and Appple then frustrates others over common design roots.

The looks of Vicki (of the app developer) are far more promising.

Allthough I'll probably buy the app (because I want to try it and play around with it), I will much rather shoot real film with my original Nizo Pro (just like I did yesterday).

Perhaps I'm missing something (at 74 it's probably my mental faculties!), but what is an "app"?
And the mentions of "phones" and "cameras", how do they tie in?

I know there are mobile phones with cameras built in ( :roll: :roll: ), but mine only makes and receives telephone calls (and something called "texts", whatever they are), so do I need something new to have yet another futile exercise in my life?

App is short for application.

It is thingy which needs installation on a electronic device which executes software. It adds functionality. Some apps are merely software doing handy things inside the electronics using the display and input. Like schedules, todo-list. etc.
Other apps use the built in electronics to things which were nor allready programmed or imagined in the design stage of the electronic device Some a revolutionary new things. Others are re-implementing things from real-life machines or tools.
There are now apps which use the built-in cameras to take photograpsh and process these immediately into an image with Polaroid (of the past) looks. I.e. unsharp and off-colour. Also there are apps which register moving images and process them into Super-8 looking. I.e. not too good focus, bleached colours and grainy After shooting you can view the images on the display or on a computer after transfering the produced files.

BTW app is now becoming such a generic word that adding a link to favourites may be called adding an app. Like on net-tv (internet browsing on a TV using a internally active browser.

app is also a way to make money from software again as apps must often be installed from proprietary stores which enforce payment when required. The classic selling of software was seriously sabotaged by download and cracking being available free from Internet sites.
Also these stores can facilitate charging for using the app after its installation. Newspaper may publish through an app (and then Apple wants 30%)

It's a way to make money from the gullible public by producing something that nobody new they wanted nor had a use for... in the certain knowledge that once it was available lots and lots of people with money burning a hole in their pockets would find an insatiable need for it... for no other reason other than " it is there"!
