Variable Speed 16mm Projector

Am currently looking at a 16mm Kodak Analyst II projector, does anyone have any experience of this machine?

It would be from the US so presumably I'd need a transformer for use in the UK? If so, where might I get one from?

I also cannot find any info. about the fps that the projector can move through, I've seen a couple of examples (as per Drift) so it seems pretty low (perhaps 4fps) but I've not seen the projector moving faster towards 1/24fps, is it capable of this and is the change in speed smooth. From the picture of the side of the projector it looks like it might be but just want to make sure.

Hi,

Can anyone identify this 16mm model please? I have got as far as 'imperial' and 'Ampro Precision' but have not been able to fine it down beyond that -






The projector is very noisy, sounds like a vacuum cleaner. The light works but there is a ding in the side of the lens - not sure yet what that amounts to. The wires operating the reel spindles look positively terrifying. Any idea how to set in motion please, it has no manual until I can identify the model?

Just had a thought - does all this noise plus no apparent movement in the mechanism mean the belt has gone?

yes the belt has gone west -

have some all-purpose projector belting but i also found an Elf rewind belt almost matches the perished Ampro exactly

I've been thinking about getting a variable speed crystal sync motor made for the bolex to drive my super 8 projector. I'm wondering if it will be safe to constantly fast forward at 64 fps. Before I buy it I might try hooking a router up to it first. and see what happens.

belt compartment fixed in place by angle setter knob - screw to release this is probably fouled beyond turning. So many projectors have this Chinese puzzle arrangement i have found.

but managed to fit extempore belt (somehow)

Now I'd really appreciate hearing from an Ampro enthusiast please. The second spindle on the upper arm appears to drive the actual spindle. The first forward spindle wire works fine. But the rear wire is operated by a large cog in the back of the projector.

This cog has a hub which pops in an out on a sort of gear arrangement. In the out position it is in neutral. In the in position it winds the spindle cable. But as soon as you hit the power it pops out, what ever you do and I can see nothing which fixes this hub in position.



If you tap the hub button back in it pops out again. If you hold it in it just judders.

Any ideas please?
