Processing from Asia

Post by utilityskate »

Hi Everyone!

Just wondering if there are any people on this board from Asia. I'm wondering where you would normally get your processing done. I'm guessing that there are services in Japan, but not sure any ideas anyone? I've seen a link to Fuji but for some reason I'm under the impression they develop single 8 only? Um......

Also, if I'm going to send my film to the US, are there any places that offer relatively cheap processing and telecine from one location? If possible, I want to avoid having to mail my film over, then have it sent back and then mail it to another place to get the transfer done.

Thanks.

Hello.
You can send your films to Retro Enterprises in Tokio.
The also send films to America or Europe, but i dont know,
if this can be a little easier for you.
Kindly regards

Thanks for the replies everyone. Thats the only problem, I don't understand anything on those Japanese sites. I guess I will need to ask my Japanese friend for a translation..........

Chris, I'm from Hong Kong. Why do you ask?

From Hong Kong too!

Post by cheung »

Hi,
I'm from Hong Kong too !
I usually buy K40 from Germany (processing included, u know ,the yellow envelope). Though Japan is nearer, the price for K40 is much higher .
For Plus-x and Tri -x , I buy from Japan (http://www.retro8.com)and send to Germany for processing.
The owner of Retro Enterprise(http://www.retro8.com) is Tak Kohyama, he speaks English, you can ask him for the price (I can't read Japanese too),
his e-mail is tak@retro8.com

Thanks everyone for the advice. Homer, its pretty good to see someone who shoots Super 8 in HK. (I always thought that people here are more interested in cool+small DV cameras!) Do you know anyone else that does this? Just interested.

Lastly, which service are you using from Germany? Do you use this German company also for Telecine transfer, or do you edit traditional way?

If you want to talk more, my e-mail is ed@utilityskate.com

Cheers.
