I don't know--sure, the asking price is high, but it is a good solid camera. And if you wanted a pristine example for a collection, or just wanted to start with a virtually "new" camera, it might be worth it. :?

hrm, I think this guy purchased this camera only recently on eBay for around 150 USD - ther was an identical one on eBay about a month or so ago. I was tempted to bid but had no spare cash.

150 USD for a pristine new in the box Canon 814 was a bargain, but then I was gutted I did not place a bid on a local auction site for a Boxed Canon 1014XL-S with ALL the accessories ( Both Wide and Tele converter mint in box) went for no more than 95 USD - now that was a BARGAIN!

Just for the sake of sheer pedantry the 3rd accessory lens in that range was a close-up lens - a really big chunk of glass.

I sold one to Tim (etimh) a couple of years back BTW...

That must have made the camera really nose heavy!

Well Bart, the complete list of accessories for the Canon 1014xl-s included various microphones - one of which was wireless, several filters, all the converter lenses, a hard carry case and a soft case to name but a few - the items I added in parentheses were the ones in their original boxes.

I wonder if the warrantee cards are still good... guess you'd have to be buying from an authorized Canon dealer.

Yes you did! I use it often--just last month, btw, taking some shots of flowers at the botanical gardens. Still appreciate the lens very much, and the very generous deal you gave me on it. Thanks again, Bart!
