New to Super 8, Questions!

Post by SNAKECHILD »

Okay, so I recently bought a:
Bell & Howell 1208 (don't know the ASA stuff) and a
Sears Easi Load C115 (this I know is only 25/40 ASA)

I'm assuming the Bell can go to like 100/160. So I'm fine with Ektachrome 100d and Tri-X B/W Reversal correct?
But what about the Sears piece of crap that I got for $5? can I use 100d in that?

and if you know anything about the Bell & Howell, like if it can take Vision3 500t, and what to do with the filter, i would love it. THANK YOU SO MUCH

i dont want to think that i wasted money :)

The Bell & Howell 1208 has auto/manual exposure. If the exposure meter is working it should work for 100D film. Since it has manual exposure I would recommend getting a light meter since you don't know if the auto exposure is working correctly. I'm not sure it can read the 500t film but with an exposure meter you should be able to work with it in low light. Here is more information on that camera:

The sears camera is for 25/40 film only and has no manual exposure. You can look that camera up on the web site above.

Thank you for the reply.
i'm a camera n00b.

Where can I find a light meter?
I bought this off of craigslist for $12, thinking it would just be really easy and stuff.
and i'm baffled at the different specs cameras have and different films.
Amazing, i love it

If you have an I phone you could get the light meter app. I have used it with good results. It's free, here is the thread where it has been discussed:

Ebay is a good source for used light meters but you never know if they are going to work.

Gossen and Sekonic still make light meters. They can be expensive. You can get them through many online stores like B & H Photo:

I use a Gossen Luna Pro that I purchased on Ebay and it works great. B & H Photo carries replacment Wein cell batteries for it.
