Sounds like a fun project, Brad. Once, I shot some super 8 footage of a female band playing in a park - visuals turned out nice though there was no sound!
I am getting quite excited about regular 8mm. There's something about the mechanical nature of these cameras that is quite appealing. And I have to admire their ruggedness and durability. I think these cameras, and the 16mm Bell & Howell, were well suited to the rigours of filming during WW2. You could just about use them as weapons if a soldier ran out of ammunition!
Are there any regular 8mm cameras that run at 70fps?

Actually it was more so the weight of the mandatory standard issue "portable" 35mm cameras that killed WW2 era combat photographers.
It was literally a deadly occupational hazard.
