Spraying wd-40 into a camera a bad idea?
I've got a camera with an auto exposure meter that doesn't move very freely. Is this a common problem? I was thinking about spraying wd-40 into it? Bad idea? Any other idea's?

I would try and find out why it's not working and go from there. If you see an area that needs some lube maybe dab something with a brush. I'd never spray WD 40 into any camera.

I would use a brush like that if I could but can't reach without taking it apart. If I take it apart I'm not too sure I could get it back together. I was also thinking about putting the camera up to my cars blinker light in the hopes it turning on and off would work the aperture more free.

You have been posting tens of questions. All rather basic and posted before. All were answered before too.
This is about the stupidest question. It has been posted been before too and the answer is the same. DON'T USE WD-40 ON CAMERAS. It will wreck every fine instrument. If you don't understand why stop working on cameras immediately as you will wreck them all. :!:
Start using the forum search function before posting anything that comes to mind. Use google with the site:filmshooting.com function to get better flexibility.
Good luck.

Phew! I was about to spray WD-40 on my films to reduce the electrostatic buildup.

Aj, c'mon. People skills.aj wrote:You have been posting...
Of course I agree that everyone should search the forums first, but it doesn't always work that smoothly. And sometimes its okay to get a topic back new and fresh.
We definitely don't need to scare away any more folks from this forum!

Thanks for the replies guys. Sorry if I asked too many noob questions in a short time.

For searching for posts about the use of WD40 in cameras, try the key words "eric martin jarvies." I'm sure you'll find some rather entertaining reading there.

Yeah, and then he managed to sell the 'worked on' cameras at $600 something. He also applied car body-undercoating to the inside of the hull parts. To absorb the sound.
I wonder how the new owners felt then and now.
BTW you would need a day off to read through all the EMJ writings.
Didn't he incept the facebook idea into somebody
