Eumigette 2

Post by 71er »

I recently got my hand on one of these Eumig cameras. It was cheap and I had not expected it to work completely - it turned out that the film transport would only function sometimes even with the motor always making a sound. So I had to open the camera and found some interesting features that I have not seen on any other camera before:
- the shutter is not turning, but it is a square moving up and down
- the momentum of the take up spindle drive is set through magnetic force
- the daylight conversion filter is positioned before the mirror of the reflex system, so when it is engaged you get an orange image through the viewfinder.
Found the fault and the camera is running now.

That's called a guillotine shutter......didn't work like that in the French revolution of course!
